Incorporating the flexibility and variety of features standard in Meridian Series telephones, the Meridian M5312 Business Set was designed for use with the DMS-100 Digital Switching system. Its handsfree operation and 2 X 24 character alphanumeric liquid crystal display (LCD) window make it especially convenient for executives and other professionals in exacting business situations.

 

Mounted at the rear top edge of the M5312 Business Set, the display module is hinged so that the user can adjust the viewing angle to maximize contrast and reduce possible glare. The window provides quick identification of calling and called numbers, as well as calling and called names where available.

 

The Meridian M5312 Business Set offers complete handsfree operation, including the convenience of On-hook Dialing. After a call is placed, pressing the Heandfree Key allows the user to converse through the telephone’s integrated speaker and microphone without lifting the handset—freeing hands for data entry or note taking. A Mute key, with associated LCD, may be activated while conversing if privacy from the other party one the line is desired. The volume control allows the user to easily adjust speaker, handset, or ringer volume.

 

In addition to standard Volume Control, Hold and Release keys, the Meridian M5312 incorporates 10 programmable keys which can be assigned directory numbers or system features such as call transfer, conferencing and speed calling. This makes it easy for users to customize their M5312 Business Sets by choosing the features that best enhance the efficiency and productivity of their particular office situations.

 

Each programmable key is equipped with an LCD indicator which signals line/feature status. If additional features or line appearances are needed, the set connects easily to the M518 or M536 Add-on Module.

 

If the local power supply fails, the set reverts to central office loop powering and provides the full functionality of an M5009.
