Cellular Phones and Accessories

Provisioning

AT&T (formerly Cingular), Verizon, and Sprint (formerly Nextel) are the providers of mobile phones for UNT with AT&T as our primary provider. All three providers offer unique solutions for wireless, mobile connectivity.

Cell Phone Use and Policy

The UNT Cell Phone Policy provides for one of two options. An employee of UNT can have either a UNT-owned phone or receive an allowance to subsidize the use of their personal cell phone for UNT business.

Cell phones owned by UNT are to be used for official university business and that the use of phones not related to official university business should be avoided. Please see the UNT Cell Phone Policy for an explanation of the policy.

Availability and Ordering

Cell phones and related services are only available to departments within the UNT system. A valid UNT account number is required.

• To order a new UNT-owned cell phone, use this form.
• To request a calling plan change, use this form.
• To upgrade a phone, use this form.
• To request an allowance to subsidize the use of a personal cell phone for UNT business, use this form. A HRM-6 form from Human Resources must accompany this form.

All forms must be completed and include the department head name and signature and the dean or vice-president name and signature.

Send all completed forms to Bob Saringer for processing.

Employee Eligibility

All UNT Employees are eligible for discounts on their personal cell phones from AT&T, Sprint, and Verizon. Contact Bob Saringer for information.

Problems, Changes and Upgrades for UNT-Owned Phones

All cell phones come with a one-year warranty. If you experience any problems with your phone please contact Bob immediately.

AT&T, Sprint, and Verizon allow us to change service plans at will. AT&T will start your new service plan at the beginning of the current billing cycle. The billing cycle for AT&T begins on the 17th of the month.

Sprint chooses to start your new plan at the beginning of the next billing cycle. The billing cycle for Sprint also begins on the 17th of the month.

If you have broken or worn out your phone you can replace your phone at any time. Simply use this form to request a new UNT-owned phone.

Please note that phone and plan pricing may change. UNT is not eligible for rebates, Internet specials, or two-for-one deals on cell phones.
